BookCrushin is extremely honored to have been chosen to participate in a 13 day author spotlight & giveaway! 13 bloggers were chosen to participate in a blogger – author speed dating event on Saturday, May 3rd at the Washington, DC Author Signing Event hosted by Lalone Marketing, and sponsored by SMI Book Club. I got about 4 minutes with each of the 13 authors and asked the same 3 questions to help give everyone a fun insight about each author in attendance! I had so much fun getting to know each author and collecting signatures and swag! Be sure to check out the event-wide giveaway – scroll all the way to the bottom to find out the schedule and try to check back every day until May 19th! Be sure to show the authors love, add to your goodreads, purchase & enter the giveaways!
Rebecca Donovan – 3 Questions
My first impression of Rebecca Donovan is that she is the kindest person. From what I have read from others, this is her everyday and she is so sweet to her readers. Her Breathing Series deals with a lot of emotional situations and I can see how Rebecca is a master at giving you the raw deal and then using love to help mend some of those scars.
Rebecca’s was very quick with her answer to her book crush, no thinking, he was just there on the top of her head. Well when your crush is Will Cooper from Slammed by Colleen Hoover it’s no surprise. I think everyone who has read Slammed has fallen for the witty, smart & sexy guy.
As a contemporary romance writer, Rebecca has desires to create something beyond this world in her writing. She wishes she could write a fantasy novel, like C.S. Lewis or J.R.R. Tolkien. She desires to create a new humanity that affects a bigger sense of the world. Massive new worlds to escape to, same reasons why I love reading fantasy – true escapism.
Rebecca finds it easier to write from the truth and then reconstruct it to fit the story she is writing. Therefore, a lot of her real life stories end up in her books in some form. From ideas for dates to traits of her exes there is a little bit of truth that spurs some inspiration that could end up in her novels.
“No one tried to get involved with me, and I kept to myself. This was the place where everything was supposed to be safe and easy. How could Evan Mathews unravel my constant universe in just one day?”
In the affluent town of Weslyn, Connecticut, where most people worry about what to be seen in and who to be seen with, Emma Thomas would rather not be seen at all. She’s more concerned with feigning perfection—pulling down her sleeves to conceal the bruises, not wanting anyone to know how far from perfect her life truly is. Without expecting it, she finds love. It challenges her to recognize her own worth―at the risk of revealing the terrible secret she’s desperate to hide.
Emma’s struggle with an abusive home life came to a heart pounding conclusion in the final chapters of Reason to Breathe. Now everyone in Weslyn knows Emma’s secret, but Carol can’t hurt Emma anymore. Some are still haunted by the horror of that night, and some must face the repercussions of their choices. Fans of Rebecca Donovan’s debut novel will discover there’s still much to learn about Emma’s life.
Emma leaves Weslyn and everyone in it behind to attend Stanford University, just as she always intended. A shell of her former self, she is not the same girl. She is broken, and the only way that she’ll be whole again is through forgiveness. Emma must find a way to forgive herself and recognize her own worth before she can receive the love she deserves. This final installment will have readers holding their breath until the very last page.
Author Bio: Rebecca Donovan
Optimism seeps from every pore of my body. I truly believe what’s supposed to happen… will. In that regard, I don’t know how to give up; it’s not part of my biological make-up.
I’m a passionate (and some would say overly enthusiastic) individual. I learn by doing (and have been burned more times than I’d like to admit). But I will always throw my entire self into whatever I do – fail or succeed.
I think this is evident when I write. I leave nothing behind, and spill it all out onto the pages. I give it all to my readers – love it or hate it.
The path I’m on is very often my own. Sometimes I veer off at the sight of something more interesting or captivating and get caught in the vines and thorns in order to experience the beauty and intrigue others often pass by. And I always meet the most interesting people along the way…
