Cover Crush: Dealing in Dreams by Lilliam Rivera

Dealing in Dreams by Lilliam Rivera has a cover that speaks volumes, how could this not be a #covercrush?! Wow, just wow. I mean the symbolism alone in this illustration has some real depth. Dealing in Dreams is about the near future where an all Latinx gang is fighting for the power over the streets with other gangs. However as the leader of crew, Nalah starts to second guess the life she is leading. As she fights, she also longs for something good and different for herself, security of home. I have a strange prediction that this book will strike home for many of us city dwellers, and I am really looking forward to reading it! Dealing in Dreams is coming to us on March 5th, 2019 so be sure to add it to your TBR now!

At night, Las Mal Criadas own these streets.

Nalah leads the fiercest all-girl crew in Mega City. That roles brings with it violent throw downs and access to the hottest boydega clubs, but the sixteen-year-old grows weary of the life. Her dream is to get off the streets and make a home in the exclusive Mega Towers, in which only a chosen few get to live. To make it to the Mega towers, Nalah must prove her loyalty to the city's benevolent founder and cross the border in a search for a mysterious gang the Ashé Ryders. Led by a reluctant guide, Nalah battles other crews and her own doubts, but the closer she gets to her goal, the more she loses sight of everything—and everyone— she cares about.

Nalah must do the unspeakable to get what she wants—a place to call home. But is a home just where you live? Or who you choose to protect?

  1. Ooh this is a nice cover. I usually think illustrated covers look more Middle Grade, but I love the colors here and it looks so magical.

I also like the idea of sharing cover crushes! Is it a meme I can join in on?

    • I would love if you wanted to join us and share CoverCrush! If you would mention that we created the meme, and link back to our site that would be awesome!
