Book Review: Crash Into You (Pushing the Limits #3)
by Katie McGarry

BookCrushin is a big fan of the Pushing the Limits series by Katie McGarry and we were very excited to be awarded an eARC of Crash Into You! I will have to admit that I read this book back at the end of October 2013 and I am embarrassed that I didn’t write a review right away. It was in no way a reflection of the book or my feelings, it was that life happened! I had surgery on my wrist a few days later. I kept telling myself I would get around to it while I was out of work but my drugged state wouldn’t allow me to get any coherent thoughts onto paper. So here is my review, a few months late, but every review counts, right? Plus we can all get excited over book 4 in the series, Take Me On, coming out in May!

From acclaimed author Katie McGarry comes an explosive new tale of a good girl with a reckless streak, a street-smart guy with nothing to lose, and a romance forged in the fast lane

The girl with straight As, designer clothes and the perfect life-that’s who people expect Rachel Young to be. So the private-school junior keeps secrets from her wealthy parents and overbearing brothers…and she’s just added two more to the list. One involves racing strangers down dark country roads in her Mustang GT. The other? Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Walker-a guy she has no business even talking to. But when the foster kid with the tattoos and intense gray eyes comes to her rescue, she can’t get him out of her mind.

Isaiah has secrets, too. About where he lives, and how he really feels about Rachel. The last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a rich girl who wants to slum it on the south side for kicks-no matter how angelic she might look.

But when their shared love of street racing puts both their lives in jeopardy, they have six weeks to come up with a way out. Six weeks to discover just how far they’ll go to save each other.

Spoiler-Free Review:

[book rating=4.0/5.0]

You are all probably tired of hearing me say this in reviews, but I don’t read a lot of contemporary romance. I mean some of my friends read tons of them, I read more like 5 a year, so I am no expert on the subject matter. But more and more titles are catching my attention and once I am caught and enjoying an author or series, I become pretty loyal. That’s what happened with the Pushing the Limits series. My cohort, Shannon reviewed the first book in the series, Pushing the Limits, and insisted that I read it, and it was different enough than a normal love story that I took to it and just loved it bunches! She also reviewed book 2, Dare You To, and again another stellar addition to the series…and of course I’m hooked now! So I decided to take over the reigns and review Crash Into You! Oh & P.S. this cover is my favorite! *SWOON*

Minor Spoilers from previous 2 books will be in the following review.

Isaiah stole my heart in Pushing the Limits and broke my heart in Dare You To, so I was eager to read his story finally! He has the hottie bad boy looks but he has such a kind heart and deep soul. I wanted a HEA for him so badly after Beth, who he thought was the girl for him, but who fell for another who was nothing like Isaiah. So Katie McGarry, couldn’t just hand over the fairytale ending, she made him work for it, even though he deserved it.

Isaiah has had a crazy rough life, like beyond. He is a product of the foster care system and is constantly battling his past. He does have a family of his choice and that is Noah. He and Noah lived with the same foster family, and now Noah has aged out of the system and is happily with Echo. The two previous stories have clear themes of unlikely pairs who end up in a journey of swoon worthy romance while still battling some of their own past demons. You can expect a similar, yet different means to an adventurous and satisfying teen romance.

When Rachel meets Isaiah they instantly have a pull. Rachel has a secret desire, one that a perfect, prep school girl, with a horde of protective brothers, shouldn’t be having over a street racing, tattooed, bad boy. But she couldn’t stay away from the one who happened to protect her, consequentiality putting himself in danger. So they work together to find a solution to their troubles and end up discovering a lot more about themselves and what it means to take chances even with each other.

If I loved Isaiah before, I absolutely adore him now. Rachel annoyed me a little bit, but even though I am nothing like her, I still found a connection to her. Rachel’s tomboyishness comes out over cars & speed, whereas mine was sports; I loved being on stage and performing, she is totally not the spotlight kinda girl. But I felt for her, and I cheered her on to stand up to her family and give in to her feelings for Isaiah! Rachel wasn’t the strongest lead female of this series so far and being book 3 it was hard to not compare her to the amazing Echo & Beth. But luckily Isaiah had enough strength and heart for this book to make up for it.

My biggest issues with this book were with Rachel’s immaturity and her family. I HATE HER FAMILY. Like screaming at the book whenever she interacts with her family, to the point of wishing bad things upon them. But McGarry had a plan and I don’t think we were supposed to like them, and Rachel doesn’t really try to amend the issues that make me hate her family.

To sum this up, this series is phenomenal and you all should read it if you haven’t yet!
