Event Recap & Giveaway: YallWest 2019

YallWest 2019 was the best ever and I am anxiously counting down the days to 2020! This recap is 90% photos – I actually remembered to take a bunch this time! Check out the fun stuff I did and who I saw! Plus a giveaway for a signed copy of Emergency Contact by Mary H.K. Choi is up for grabs at the end!

YallWest Recap

Novl invited a few of us to come out for a special pre-YW event with Brandy Colbert (LOVE HER) and Natasha Ngan! We had tacos, chats, and time with these two lovelies. Plus, meeting the team at Novl was awesome – Thank you Val, Savannah, and Sabrina for the fun time! (you can see more at their write up here and on Publisher’s Weekly, too!)

Fierce Friday is always a great time because all of us bookish people line wait and trade books for each other’s signings. It’s the perfect chance to get some bigger authors out of the way before Saturdays and have more time with them! Plus, photobooth!

Of course, it’s not YallWest unless you’re hanging out with your book squad. Check out DJ and I in our Star Wars attire!

One of the coolest parts of the weekend was seeing Gwenda Bond and Matthew Modine (who plays Dr. Brenner on Stranger Things). In case you’ve been hiding under a rock and missed all my shouting, Gwenda wrote the backstory of Eleven’s mom (which is heavily centered around Dr. Brenner). So cool!

Equally as cool, getting to see Jay Kristoff and give him a set of the amazing cards Sarah designed for Aurora Rising. And bring him a pile of books, as always.

LOOK AT ALL THESE AUTHORS I MET! Debuts, old friends, authors I’ve been waiting forever to meet. I could not have been happier! Got all my books signed, too!

“What is an event you’ve loved or wish you could go to?” Hmm. How about opening nights of Broadway shows? Those must be neat!

  2. Any big bookish event! We just don’t have them in my state. We have a few single-author signings about 3 hours from me and always on a weeknight, and a couple of indie author events (mostly adult/erotic romance, though, which is not my jam).

I’d love to go to any YA author event like Yallwest or Apollycon (would love to meet Jennifer Armentrout). Thanks! 🙂

I’m flailing here because this event is so awesome! Thank you so much for sharing your photos and what this exciting event is all about. I’d love to attend someday.

This looks like such an awesome bookish event! I’ve been to BookCon but I’d love to go to YallWest someday.

Any author meetings and bookish events (BookCon, Book expo,…)!
