It’s First Lines Fridays! For today, I’m giving you the first line from a recent release that I just finished reading…and now have a massive book hangover from! So yeah…highly recommended!

About:

Each week I will pick a YA or NA book from my shelves and copy the first line, in an attempt to acquaint you with some new reads or reintroduce you to old favorites. We will have an accompanying Instagram pic to go along with our choices each week so check out #firstlinesfridays!

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines? If you want to join the meme be sure to check out Wandering Words, and here are her rules below.

The rules:

  • Pick a book off your shelf (or your current read) and open to the first page.
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first.
  • Finally…reveal the book!

“Maybe I’d always been broken and dark inside.”

courtA Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses #2) by Sarah J. Maas

Category: New Adult, Fantasy, Romance
Publication: May 3rd, 2016
Purchase: Amazon

Feyre survived Amarantha’s clutches to return to the Spring Court—but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can’t forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin’s people.

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms—and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future—and the future of a world cleaved in two.

With more than a million copies sold of her beloved Throne of Glass series, Sarah J. Maas’s masterful storytelling brings this second book in her seductive and action-packed series to new heights.

Seriously, this book is so damn good. Also, not YA! Very mature content, more than in book 1, but if you haven’t read book 1, A Court of Thorns & Roses — Run and read that right now! It was one of my Top 5 Books of 2015; and I can pretty much guarantee Mist & Fury will be at the top of 2016’s list! So good…so so good!
