Since I don’t have to wait each week for a new episode I have been bingeing them. My reviews for these serials are a little different, and they contain more plot rehashing then I typically use, so beware of possible tiny spoilers – check out my reviews for the first 3 episodes. The audio narration is amazing and it is perfect for my commute! If you are interested in this YA, sci-fi serial, check out episodes 1 and 2 for free!

[book rating=4/5]

The Most Dangerous Game is not a video game…it is real life (spoiler-alert). Loki had a safe and happy gamer presence online. Only his best friend knew his handle…until one day he shared it on Instagram. Loki is continually bullied and pressured at home and at school, until he can’t handle it anymore. But now that Loki has a second chance, he is going to use his knowledge to his best advantage.

I love how the episodes are focused on one person in the group and we are given some insight into their backstory. However, I am so conflicted as to what is going on but I am so ready to keep reading! I just can’t stop! Each character tells their story differently and it really works in this format.

In this episode the danger is the jungle, the teens need to create a more stable living environment as well, but the constant threat of caretakers is always looming. Loki takes his skills growing up in a military household as well as JROTC and video gaming to help give tips on strategic operations for dealing with their current situation.

At this stage in the serial, only 4 episodes in, I have way more questions than answers, and the one thing that feels certain, is that they all died once. I have absolutely no clue what is going on, where are they, and how they got here…but I am excited for answers.

Umta (ReMade #1.5) by Matthew Cody

You live. You love. You Die. Now RUN. ReMade is a thrilling sci-fi adventure that will take readers past the boundaries of time, space, and even death.

This is the 5th episode of ReMade, a 15-episode serial from Serial Box Publishing. This episode was written by Matthew Cody.

Even in a group of misfits, Umta sticks out. An adult with more history than any of the youths around her can possibly imagine, she knows about survival – and suffering. Brought back and remade seemingly to take care of the helpless children around her, she plays the mysterious guide and hunter with skill…but despite her knowledge, she is just as vulnerable as all the rest when the caretakers make their long-dreaded return.

Umta! Finally, we learn more about Umta, she has been the one who seemed to know the most about the space station and caretakers, so getting her backstory was essential and I am glad we didn’t have to wait too long. I think Umta means mother in her language, and not her name, and this is part of what we learn in this episode. Umta, had two children, and we get her flashbacks to those days, however long ago, and what happened to her and her family. Heartbreaking is the only word I can come up with, and I have a feeling there will be so much more heartbreak to come.

So one thing is for sure, Umta is definitely not a part of the group of teens whom all seemed to have something in common, although I don’t want to spoil that tidbit for potential new readers. We know she was on the space station longer than the rest, and the caregivers extended some knowledge to her, how much, we don’t know.

This episode is intense. So much brutality and so much sadness. SO MUCH HORROR. I am so lost at this point. Why bring these teens here (technically, I guess they were brought to the space station and they had to flee to the planet it was tethered to) to just destroy them?

The writing is flawless, I absolutely got lost in the words and the world. I am so excited to learn what is going on! We are 5 episodes in and we still have no real logical explanation or ideas of how and why or where they are. I have some feelings, theories…and maybe I will explain what I think soon. Damn this episode was meant to break the reader, and I am broken. Both episodes 4 and 5 are a real emotional rollercoaster and I better get some payoff after being beaten down.

Reality No-Show (ReMade #1.6) by Kiersten White

This is the 6th episode of ReMade, a 15-episode serial from Serial Box Publishing. This episode was written by Kiersten White.

Teddy, a teenage heart-throb and reality TV star, is used to being followed by cameras and waking up in strange beds with strange girls. But robot cameras with no operators, beds made of plastic, and girls that have no desire to be in bed with him? That he very unused to. Suddenly trapped in a weird alt-version of his own life – with a rare definitively non-fangirl – the teen star seeks questions, and a way out.

Reality show or not, this episode confused the hell out of me and I loved every minute of it. Two new teens are introduced, Teddy a famous reality TV star who played football for his famous TV show hosted high school. Teddy has some issues, drinking too much, partying too hard, sleeping with too many girls. So when he awakes with a strange girl in his bed, he kinda just assumes it is just another average morning. Well of course nothing is normal!

I am kind of freaked out as we left off on a crazy cliffhanger! I don’t know what was going on and now, now, there are new teens and they seem to be safe and cared for?! WHAT IS HAPPENING?!

Even though I feel out of sorts, I loved Teddy and Inez. I love the fact that Teddy thinks this is all in his head, and Inez is strong willed and very forceful with her trying to understand the new world she is in. The writing was amazing, I was immersed and I really think that the issue of mental illness was handled so genuinely. Even though Inez is constantly trying to convince Teddy that she is real, even she has to try and prove to herself that she is alive. This episode was real. I know a new set of characters and bafflement threw me at first, but I can see the forest through the trees, and we will intersect with the other timeline.

The main reveal is that these caretakers are so fundamentally different then what we have seen so far. These caretakers want to recreate a reality tv show? WHY? Are there different kinds of caretakers? The murderous, warfare ones as well as the nurturing reminiscent ones? How did these robots become so sentient? Did the robots destroy humanity?

Ok, so after finishing the episode, it is my favorite one so far. Wow. I feel like I learned something…but not all that much.

Here is my theory, it’s not the most ideal, but this is what I am thinking. We know at the least, they all died and were remade. Remade with all the same memories they used to have and with some memories of the pain of being recreated. They have all their previous knowledge, which is cool and clearly necessary. So here is my main theory, I think they are being remade to repopulate the earth, thousands of years after their death, because of the extinction of humans. I come to this timeline idea because of the weirdly evolved animals the teens have encountered as well as the strange recreation of the tv show, and the lack of food stuffs, the massive change in language, and the robots and degrading yet futuristic city.

So that’s my theory…we shall see if and what may come true.
