TV Thoughts: The Passage – S1E8 – You Are Not That Girl Anymore

Welcome to TV Thoughts! We are kicking off this new feature with our thoughts on the newly adapted book to TV show, The Passage. I actually read The Passage by Justin Cronin back when it was released in 2010. I did not however finish the series…you know what they say about big books, well, I am the opposite book nerd. But seriously, I started a YA focused blog, so reading adult books was not at the forefront of my priorities.

As always, spoilers are below.

The Passage – S1E8 – You Are Not That Girl Anymore – 3/4/19

Synopsis:

As Amy experiences symptoms of the virus that indicate she is close to turning, Brad brings everyone together; Lila and Sykes race to perfect an anti-viral medicine; Richards tries to keep Project NOAH contained. (@FOX)

I don’t do riddles, dude, just say what you mean.

-Amy

Episode 8 picks right up where episode 7 left off and with only the season finale next, a lot is ramping up. I have really enjoyed the season so far, and I hope you all have too.

Fanning is working Amy over to be a part of his twelve, as the end is near. She is starting to experience the fever symptoms which is the first sign of fully turning, and she is resisting, as well as Fanning at the same time.

Project NOAH is basically shut down, Horace fired all the main folks, including Clark and Dr. Sykes, but they are still working together to try and shut it all down. Add in Brad and Lila and not only will the work on ending the project but also trying to rescue Amy.

In the meantime, Amy is also moved into the cells, and wakes up surrounded by the virals. How terrifying. The whole time she knows she’s turning and even convinces Brad to keep her tied up. Fanning is in her mind explaining to her how she can be a part of all the madness to come. He does the same thing we saw with Carter, he tells her she has a choice to make, she can either live or die. And by live, that is as one of them, a viral vampire.

SO MUCH IS GOING ON! The one guard, Grey, whom I don’t think I’ve mentioned before, has been completely manipulated by Fanning and does whatever Fanning asks. Clearly the goal is to escape the facility and end life as we know it. Ironic isn’t it? Since Project NOAH was to create a vaccine to prevent viral pandemics.

Oh and we know Lacey is alive and headed to Project NOAH. I hope she makes it to the very end.

Grey is destroying key components of the compound like the communication systems. We also discover that Horace has been infiltrated by one of the virals too, and is making decisions based on manipulations. CAN YOU BELIEVE THESE PEOPLE. Horace is literally there because he heard that physic abilities have been experienced, and they are all just falling prey to the viral’s desires.

Meanwhile, Fanning is explains to Amy that each viral can save one human to be a companion going forward and that she can save Brad. Of course, we know Babcock is bringing Clark, as they continue to be involved in his mind. But it is Amy’s choice.

Amy is so strong. Again Saniyya is just an amazing actress, she pulls me in each week with her emotional range of character. Amy decides that she doesn’t want to live like them, and would rather die that hurt anyone. She drifts off and surprisingly the show lets us see her wake up! Brad and Amy are running out of the facility and her eyes turn amber…but is that mean she’s changed!! AH!

But that’s not all… fucking creepy Grey succeeds, and let’s all the virals loose.

So tomorrow night…tune in for the 2 hour season finale!!!

PS. If you are enjoying the show share on social media, because a season 2 has not been announced yet!

An epic and gripping tale of catastrophe and survival, The Passage is the story of Amy—abandoned by her mother at the age of six, pursued and then imprisoned by the shadowy figures behind a government experiment of apocalyptic proportions. But Special Agent Brad Wolgast, the lawman sent to track her down, is disarmed by the curiously quiet girl and risks everything to save her. As the experiment goes nightmarishly wrong, Wolgast secures her escape—but he can’t stop society’s collapse. And as Amy walks alone, across miles and decades, into a future dark with violence and despair, she is filled with the mysterious and terrifying knowledge that only she has the power to save the ruined world.
