Blog Tour: Girl Gone Viral by Arvin Ahmadi
DYK women laid the foundation of tech work? In the 1940s, women were hired as “computers” while the men were off at work. Yet today women represent only 20-25% of the current programming workforce.
A crime. For real.
In honor of Girl Gone Viral, we want to celebrate famous women in tech and send a call of action to support girl’s and women’s education in STEM.
Famous Women of Tech
First Computer Programmer: Ada Lovelace
The 1800s is way before the invention of the modern computer but Ada Lovelace claimed the spot of first published algorithm.
Saving the Planet One Hybrid Car at a Time: Annie Easley
Annie developed and implemented technology used in early hybrid batteries. She was also an equal opportunity employment advocate. At NASA to boot!
Bringing the White House into the 21st Century: Megan Smith
In 2015, parts of the White House technology was still running on technology that went extinct with the dinosaurs – FLOPPY DISKS. As Obama’s CTO, Megan also fought for net neutrality.
