Synopsis
Cora Lewis is a whole lot of fun, and she knows how to keep her tattooed bad boy friends in line. But all that flash and sass hide the fact that she’s never gotten over the way her first love broke her heart. Now she has a plan to make sure that never happens again: She’s only going to fall in love with someone perfect.
Rome Archer is as far from perfect as a man can be. He’s stubborn and rigid, he’s bossy and has come back from his final tour of duty fundamentally broken. Rome’s used to filling a role: big brother, doting son, super soldier; and now none of these fit anymore. Now he’s just a man trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life while keeping the demons of war and loss at bay. He would have been glad to suffer it alone, until Cora comes sweeping into his life and becomes the only color on his bleak horizon.
Perfect isn’t in the cards for these two, but imperfect might just last forever . . .

Review
[book rating=4.0/5.0]
The Marked Men series has quickly cemented itself as one of my favorite New Adult series (check out my review of Rule and Character Crush post on Jet) That is due in large part to the scorchingly hot, emotionally wounded, and inked males that grace its pages. With that said, Rome Archer, the first “non-marked” man of the series, was such a surprise and delight. Oh sure he’s “marked” but not in the way that rocker Jet or bad boy Rule is. No, Rome is marked both physically and mentally by the remnants of war. I’ve been a fan of spitfire Cora from book one and was super excited that this little pint size firecracker was going to be the one to tame the wayward soldier. They were such an unlikely pair, he is described as pure alpha male perfection all rippling muscles and bulging biceps and she is a tiny, two-toned eyed, punk rock princess with a pixie cut to match her pixie body. On paper these two were as opposite as night and day but from the minute Cora pours a beer on sulking Rome’s head you just know that the fireworks between these two are imminent.
There is a maturity to this story that goes above and beyond what is in the first two books. I feel that’s because Cora and Rome are older and their issues are far more intense than in the first two books. Rome in particular deals with intense PTSD. My only gripe was that I wish that Cora and Rome didn’t get together so quickly. I loved their chemistry and sometimes I prefer the slow boil that comes from two opposites literally attracting. I wanted that to play out a little bit more before the first hook-up occurred. However, although I felt cheated out of the slow burn of their attraction it was more than made up for in the loves scenes (I literally had to fan myself with my iPad a few times), yes they’re THAT good. I have to say I was glad to see some resolution on the Remy front, I won’t divulge details but suffice to say it was one of the more touching moments in the book.
What I love about these books is that all the other characters not only make appearances but their stories continue to grow as well so you never feel as if you don’t know what is happening with other characters and of course Ms. Crownover is a genius at planting the seeds for the next book (OMG NASH’s book now please!)
This was another great addition to this series and I am super excited to see what stories continue to come.
About the Author
I’m supposed to share interesting details about myself so that my readers get to know me so here we go in no particular order: I’m an natural redhead even though I haven’t seen my real hair color in years, I’m a big fan of tattoos and have a half sleeve on either arm and various other pieces all over the place, I’ve been in the bar industry since I was in college and it has always offered interesting insight into how men and women interact with each other, I have 3 dogs that are all crazy, I live in Colorado and love the snow, I love music and in all reality wish I could be a rock star not a writer or a bartender but I have zero talent so there is that.
I love to write, love to read and all I’m interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something.
