Shannon’s 7 Most Anticipated Releases of 2014
Trying to narrow this list down to 7 books is intense. There ARE so many upcoming releases that I die over but here goes nothing
1. Isla and the Happily Ever After (Anna & the French Kiss #3) by Stephanie Perkins
Anticipated Release: May 15th, 2014
PreOrder: Amazon
Synopsis: Goodreads
Why I’m sweating it: Stephanie Perkins has a knack for writing some of the most cinema-esque, heart swelling romances in all the YA genre. I’ve been waiting with baited breath for this, the final installment, in this adorable trilogy.
2. Silver Shadows (Bloodlines #5) by Richelle Mead
Anticipated Release: July 29th, 2014
PreOrder: Amazon
Synopsis: Goodreads
Why I’m sweating it: Two words: Adrian Ivashkov. Richelle brought the sexy in The Fiery Heart and now Silver Shadows promises to bring on one epic showdown between the alchemists and the moroi. I’m dying to see if my fave couple can overcome the odds and make it back to one another!
3. Opposition (Lux #5) by Jennifer Armentrout
Anticipated Release: August 5th, 2014
PreOrder: Amazon
Synopsis: Goodreads
Why I’m sweating it: If you read Origin than you know that book ended on one helluva cliffhanger. Seriously, I wanted to call up Jennifer and say you cannot be serious! I have to wait until 2014 to find out what happens! Also did I mention it’s the end of this series? I almost don’t want to “anticipate” it because, omg feelings.
4. Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Page
Anticipated Release: April 1, 2014
PreOrder: Amazon
Synopsis: Goodreads
Why I’m sweating it: Ever since I read the blurb about this upcoming fantastical take on the Wizard of Oz I was hooked. Dorothy is now the tyrannical dictator of Oz? Say what. I cannot wait to dive into this bizzaro take on the classic.
5. Alienated by Melissa Landers
Anticipated Release: February 4, 2014
PreOrder: Amazon
Synopsis: Goodreads
Why I’m sweating it: Ok I may have a thing for Alien/Human romance stories see Opposition above. It feels like I’ve been waiting for this book FOREVER. We even made it one of our Cover Crushes back in September! Hoping this one will fill the void left after the end of my beloved Lux series but I think it will, this Aleyx character sounds amazing!
6. The Here and Now by Ann Brashares
Anticipated Release: April 8th, 2014
PreOrder: Amazon
Synopsis: Goodreads
Why I’m sweating it: Time Travel! Like aliens I’m a real sucker for a good old time travel romance and since this is written by the enormously talented author of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants it’s guaranteed to tug at the heartstrings. The plot sounds unique and unlike other YA’s out there right now so I had to give it a spot in my top 7.
7. City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments #6) by Cassandra Clare
Anticipated Release: May 27th, 2014
PreOrder: Amazon
Synopsis: Goodreads
Why I’m sweating it: The Mortal Instruments has been one of my favorite YA series. It’s one of the series that really reawakened me and got me obsessed with reading. I’m sad about this one ending but super excited to see how the masterful Cassandra Clare wraps it all up. Will Jace and Clary finally get a HEA? God I hope so.
Kelly’s 7 Most Anticipated Releases of 2014
This is hard! Of course I am super excited for the next novels in some of my favorite series but finding out about new series or stand alone novels is so much harder to pin down. So most of these probably aren’t flying under your radar, but I hope maybe I reminded you to get excited! However, I am very intrigued about a few entirely new novels-here’s to hoping they are amazing! I am also going to take a stand and not repeat any of the releases that are on Shannon’s list (even though we clearly love a lot of the same series – BFFs 4 eva!)!
1. Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #3) by Laini Taylor
Anticipated Release: April 8, 2014
PreOrder: Amazon
Synopsis: Goodreads
Why I’m sweating it: Um, seriously one of the best 2 YA fantasy series I have read in the past few years and it is the freaking series finale! It takes the top spot for me since I have been waiting since I finished Days of Blood & Starlight way, way back in December of 2012. Like whoa finally only 3 more months to wait! Days was so heart wrenchingly sad that I am secretly hoping for some of Karou’s original spunkiness back, but after what Laini Taylor put us through in the previous book my hope may be hopeless. This wait has been epic, but that sounds about right for this series. So epic wait + enthralling fantasy = Kelly’s Most Anticipated YA Release of 2014
2. Ruin and Rising (The Grisha #3) by Leigh Bardugo
Anticipated Release: June 3, 2014
PreOrder: Amazon
Synopsis: Goodreads
Why I’m sweating it: Well it is my 2nd favorite YA fantasy of recent years and it is well deserved of the #1 spot for 2014 (but #1 had that epic wait, right?) thankfully for The Grisha series we only had the normal 1 year wait that I am accustomed to these days. Oh & only two words are necessary: The Darkling! Ps. Leigh Bardugo tweeted (back in June) that she started calling the book Ruin & Racy – oh please lord, yes!
3. Sinner (The Wolves of Mercy Falls #4) by Maggie Stiefvater
Anticipated Release: July 1, 2014
PreOrder: Amazon
Synopsis: Goodreads
Why I’m sweating it: I never ever ever thought there would another book in The Wolves of Mercy Falls series. The only downfall is it’s listed as a standalone companion novel. Dies there won’t be another after this one, but it’s Cole St. Clair & Isabel Culpeper’s story so much yay & yummy! I seriously cannot wait, but I already know I’ll want more…what a tease! But seriously, Maggie Stiefvater’s writing is so smooth, beautiful and poetic. I could just read & re-read her novels over and over. Here’s to happy reading!
4. White Hot Kiss (The Dark Elements #1) by Jennifer Armentrout
Anticipated Release: February 25, 2014
PreOrder: Amazon
Synopsis: Goodreads
Why I’m sweating it: A new JLA series?! YES, PLEASE! Do we even need another reason to be excited? Well the prequel novella, Bitter Sweet Love has already been released to gangbuster ratings! Damn it, why haven’t I read it yet so I could squeee along with everyone else who’s waiting for White Hot Kiss!
Anticipated Release: May 6, 2014
PreOrder: Amazon
Synopsis: Goodreads
Why I’m sweating it: Amy Plum’s Revenant’s series is beautiful and I adore it! So when I heard that her new novel was dystopian I quickly put myself to task to score this ARC! Nothing I love more than a good dystopian novel especially by a phenomenal writer. Now I just need some time to sink in and read it and I cannot wait!
6. The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings
Anticipated Release: June 10, 2014
PreOrder: Amazon
Synopsis: Goodreads
Why I’m sweating it: This is a new dystopian series that I have heard nothing but exciting things about from a debut author. Like I mentioned before, I am totally willing to try new series and new authors and I have high hopes for this one. The synopsis sounds thrilling and dark, just my cup of tea!
7. Sweet Reckoning (Sweet Triology #3) by Wendy Higgins
Anticipated Release: April 29, 2014
PreOrder: Amazon
Synopsis: Goodreads
Why I’m sweating it: KAIDAN ROWE…do I really need to say anything else? Since I first read Sweet Evil, the first book in this trilogy, back in July of 2012, I have been a diehard fan! I love Wendy Higgins, her writing & her appreciation for her fans! I am desperately anxious for this finale and at the same time totally nervous. I hate it when my favorite series come to an end, but all good things must end eventually.
