Feature: 3 Weeks, 5 Author Events – Recap & Giveaway
I had a busy few weeks! I went to 5 author events and I loved every minute of it! I wish I could have attended three additional events held within these same 3 weeks, but I did need to be home for a few days and take care of my household! Some events I tweeted a lot, some I posted to my instagram stories, and others I just sat back and listened. Warcross by Marie Lu with guest Alexander London
Marie Lu celebrated the release day of Warcross with special guest Alexander London on Tuesday 9/12/17 at Towne Book Center, Collegeville, PA. This is a cool bookstore, they had a full cafe including wine as well as a great selection of books. This was my first time here but the drive was worth it to hear Marie and Alex chat. The crowd was massive and it was so great to see some familiar faces and meet some new voracious readers!
Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas
Sarah J. Maas ended her Tower of Dawn tour on 9/16/17 which was held in the gymnasium of the Friends Central School on City Line Avenue in Philadelphia, PA. It was sweltering inside the gym, and it was a massive turnout, but everyone seemed to have a blast! There was a photo booth which was so fun to help fans don some capes and crowns and pose for photos! I thoroughly enjoyed taking everyone’s photos and seeing their pure joy and excitement. Sarah was effervescent as always, and she shared some really personal stories about her family, including her grandmother, whom survived the Holocaust, and is a huge inspiration to Sarah. I won’t lie, I may have shed a tear or two.
They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera & Release by Patrick Ness
Patrick Ness and Adam Silvera celebrated their new releases of Release and They Both Die at the End with a packed house at Barnes & Noble, in Oxford Valley, PA on 9/20/17. Patrick Ness was hilarious, and I am not sure he even meant to be! But I was laugh so much! These two books had quite a few common themes in them, and I highly recommend checking them out!

Behind the Song Anthology Launch with all these authors!
A bunch of the authors included in the anthology came out to the Boxcar Brewing Company in West Chester, PA on 9/23/17. They were K.M. Walton, Donn-T, David Arnold, E.C. Myers, Ellen Hopkins, Tiffany Schmidt, Beth Kephart, James Howe, and Elisa Ludwig. This was a fun launch, there was alcohol, snacks, a discussion, as well as LIVE performances from 3 of the authors! Check out my twitter moments for some live videos I recorded on my little iPhone! I had so much fun!
Behind The Song Launch
Fierce Reads Tour with Jennifer Mathieu, Caleb Roehrig, Anna-Marie McLemore, and Mitali Perkins
These authors were absolutely delightful! So much insight into their worlds and their books. I could have listened to them talk for hours! I really loved hearing about Caleb’s pre-author experiences working on some reality tv shows. Jennifer Mathieu told us the story behind her amazing dedication in Moxie as well as some movie production news *hint* the script is being developed at the moment! Mitali spoke about her personal inspirations behind her book, and what it was like to be an immigrant in the melting pot of NYC versus the very homogeneous suburbs of California. Anna-Marie talked about the inspiration behind her murderous gardens, and all the food creations in her book. If you want to know more, I highly recommend catching them at an event!

All the books look greats. I enjoyed all the photos. Everyone looks to be having such fun! I would read MOXIE first. I have never been to a book signing.
I think I’ve only read one of these, Last Seen Leaving by Caleb Roehrig, but I love Marie Lu and have read/loved her previous trilogies. Authors events are rare in our area, but I saw Colleen Hoover on her Without Merit tour last night! Thanks for the chance!
And I want to read Moxie of course!

Wow! I would love to meet these authors! Moxie sounds like a book every person should read, especially women. I attended an author signing and loved having my book personalized and getting my picture taken with my new hero. Authors are the best! Thanks for sharing your experiences.

There wasn’t nearly enough time to chat but yes I talked to Jennifer about my riot grrl youth and how I’m still basically living it. ?
I’m still excited about Tower and Dawn, I haven’t read it yet, but I must one day, one day.
I think Warcross seems interesting. Last Seen Leaving has been one I’ve wanted to read. My one and only author even was Bookfest by B & N two years ago. Couldn’t go to this year’s because my daughter decided to have her baby early – lol.

I was really really lucky that both Sarah J Maas and Leigh Bardugo came to my area in Sept. That was def a rare occurrence! I try to go to as many in my area as possible, especially when the events take place at my local indie bookstore.
Chicago is only 3 hrs from me but so many of the events take place during the week and I just can’t do that. I’m grateful for the ones I can attend, as I know there are many others who can’t make them.
Yes, weekday events make it so much harder especially to travel, which is why I miss Leigh Bardugo, it was either NYC or DC and both were weeknights and I would have had to take off work…so I didn’t go and I am still kicking myself.
