First Lines Fridays: April 22nd, 2016
It’s Earth Day, and what better way to celebrate Earth Day than with a First Lines Fridays featuring a dystopian novel? This first line is from one of my favorite dystopian novels and if you follow my reviews/fangirling, you might not have trouble figuring it out. Ready?
About:
Each week I will pick a YA or NA book from my shelves and copy the first line, in an attempt to acquaint you with some new reads or reintroduce you to old favorites. We will have an accompanying Instagram pic to go along with our choices each week so check out #firstlinesfridays!
First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines? If you want to join the meme be sure to check out Wandering Words, and here are her rules below.
The rules:
- Pick a book off your shelf (or your current read) and open to the first page.
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first.
- Finally…reveal the book!
The streets are busy, streams of people joining the flow of bodies from every corner and alley, all of them moving toward the town center.
The book is Strikers by Ann Christy, and you can find my previous review here. I have been pestering Ann about the sequel for months, and I’m thrilled that Strikers: Eastlands will be released shortly! The best news? There is a third book, too, that will be released this year! Woo hoo!
I can not believe I haven’t read this before: this book is compelling and fascinating. Numero dos is lookin mighty fine if you ask me 🙂
