New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Veronica Rossi’s new fantasy adventure in the Rider series—Seeker .
When Daryn claimed she was seeing visions during her sophomore year of high school, no one believed the truth. She wasn’t losing her mind, she was gaining the Sight the ability to see the future. If she just paid attention to the visions, they’d provide her with clues and show her how she could help people. Really help them. Daryn embraced her role as a Seeker. The work she did was important. She saved lives.
Until Sebastian.
Sebastian was her first and worst mistake.
Since the moment she inadvertently sealed him in a dark dimension with Samrael the last surviving demon in the Kindred guilt has plagued her. Daryn knows Sebastian is alive and waiting for help. It’s up to her to rescue him. But now that she needs the Sight more than ever to guide her, the visions have stopped.
Daryn must rely on her instincts, her intelligence, and on blind faith to lead the riders who are counting on her in search of Sebastian. As they delve into a shadowy realm where nothing is as it seems and where Samrael is steadily amassing power, Daryn faces the ultimate test. Will she have to become evil to destroy evil? The very fate of humankind rests in the answer.
Riders Recap:
I absolutely devoured and loved Riders by Veronica Rossi. I thought the book was emotional, full of action, and extremely unique. It was a 5-star read for me & I think if more people gave it a chance they would love it too. So here are some spoiler-free reasons I think you’d love to know about Riders!
1. UNIQUENESS:
Everything about this book was unique and mesmerizing. I was in it deep from the moment I started reading it. Right off the bat I can see this book as being divisive, the way the story unfolds is very different, and that is one of the things I loved about it, but I can see that this non-traditional aspect could put people off. For me it only enhanced the feelings of intrigue and mystery, to be listening as the story is unfolding through conversational reenactment really worked for this story overall.
2. CONCEPT:
Riders is a technically a story about the four horsemen of the apocalypse: War, Death, Famine & Conquest. In this tale there are 4 guys who are all embodied with the gifts of the horseman in order to fight a demonic evil that is trying to take something very precious. There is a girl, Daryn, who is a seeker, that seems to hold all the knowledge as to what is happening to these boys, and it is her responsibility to bring the four of them together so they can protect the world from the impending apocalypse. Even though there isn’t as much mythology or religion as you might expect with this concept, there is just enough to explain what is going on.
3. CHARACTERS:
Veronica Rossi is a master at the male POV, and she nails Gideon Blake on the head. I loved him so much! He has such style and enough smart-ass wittiness that I just wanted to high-five him then hug him. Because clearly the boy is an expert in the hug department…or at least Daryn thinks so. Daryn was another character I loved, who am I kidding, I loved all the characters, but Daryn, she was just so spot on. We also have Marcus, Jode, and Sebastian, who make up the rest of the party of 5 (yeah I went there). The conversations, the sadness, loneliness, are all conveyed by each character in such brilliant dialogue and revelation.
4. READ THIS BOOK:
Brilliant concept, beautiful style, and the little tidbits kept me chomping at the bit! 😛 This book is so unique; I have never read a book like this before! I hope everyone leaves their comfort zone of conventional story-telling and takes this ride!
Excitement for Seeker:
*possible minor spoilers for Riders below…
At the end of Riders we are left on a bit of a cliff, but there is one huge question and that is what happened to Daryn. When I found out that Seeker was going to be her book, and we would get 2 POVs, I literally jumped for joy, ok maybe just figuratively, but I was excited! I definitely wanted more of Daryn, it was one of the things I wanted more of from Riders…but it was Gideon’s story to tell, and I get that he wouldn’t throw her under the bus in his version of events (remember, Riders it is told to us conversationally). Plus, this might be the girl in me talking, but I absolutely loved Daryn and Gideon together and I CAN NOT WAIT for more of those two smart asses to do a little more than hug!
Daryn has a big adventure ahead of her as she tries to right her mistake she made with Sebastian. He is locked in an alternate world with the last demon in the Kindred, Samreal. She must do whatever it takes to get Sebastian out of there.
Things I am Anticipating:
1. Daryn and Gideon reuniting…and kissing!
2. Seeing the boys with their horses!
3. Another battle!
4. Did I mention kissing? Ok ok…I really love these two characters so yeah I am really excited for the KISSING!
5. The Party of 5 getting back together!
Character Spotlight: MARCUS
Marcus is Death. He had a horrible life, pre-death, pre-horseman. He is hard and hateful. However now, I think he has a purpose and his life is more meaningful, and calm. Marcus is quiet, loves his horse, and he loves to fight. I can’t wait to see more of him in Seeker!

Thanks for hosting! I have the first book, but have held off reading it (poor memory yada yada). I’m going to cheat on the favorite demon story and go with the Mortal Instruments series–lots of demons in those! 🙂
There definitely are a lot of demons in TMI 🙂
Absolutely liked the first book but my favorite demon story for me is Daughter of Smoke and Bone!!! It’s vivid and awesome.
My favorite demon story is Evil Librarian.
