Feature: Happy Pride – A Short List of YA LGBTQIA+ Books That I Love!
Happy Pride Month! As you may or may not know, I’m Kelly, and I’m queer. As my new Evie Seo shirt says, I’m Bookish Queer! There are a lot of YA LGBTQIA+ books out in the market, but today I want to highlight a few that I absolutely love! I could never pick a favorite LGBT book so I will just highlight a few of my favorites (in no particular order) in a few different genres – some are even Own Voices, as well as a few upcoming releases I am really excited about!
If you aren’t a part of this marginalization, I can’t stress enough how important it is to read a book outside of your representation, read diverse books, there is a whole world out there and you as a bookish person should want to expand your knowledge and your understanding of the world of YA fiction. I read a lot of books with non-queer characters so if I can read outside of my identity, so can you!
Also, just because I enjoyed these books for the story they shared with me, doesn’t mean you will love them as much as I did. Some books aren’t for everyone, some have triggers, especially for people struggling with their identity.
I have added links out to Goodreads and Amazon for each title – hope you will look into them some more! If you have questions about the representations included or just want to share with me your favorite GLBTQ reads, leave me a comment! Also check out GAY YA and LGBTQ Reads for a whole lot more information!
