The Monster.

In one moment, my entire life was ripped away from me. I ignored the warning signs until it was too late. Until I became the victim.

He took my life away from me; my freedom, my courage. I’ve lived my life in debilitating fear since that fateful day.

The Savior.

He was there the day it all went down, and he’s been by my side ever since. He’s been the only thing that’s kept me going.

He’s my best friend, but he wants more. I’m terrified to lose him. I’m terrified he’ll leave.

One tried to kill me.

One brought me back to life.

I’ll never be the same person again–that girl died when the match was dropped. Too much has already been stolen from me.

It’s time to take back what’s mine.

Review:

[book rating=5.0/5.0]

Kira Adam’s newest standalone novel is a fast-paced novel that is expertly crafted and beautifully written. Bryce’s journey is heartbreaking, and Kira Adams pulls no punches when telling us what Bryce suffered at the hands of her abusive ex-boyfriend, Robbie.

Written in current and past tense, “A Date with the Devil” is realistic and gritty. Kira’s descriptions are vivid and I got lost in the novel immediately. My favorite parts of the story were actually the flashbacks; I think they gave Bryce and Robbie’s relationship the depth necessary to understand why and how someone becomes a victim of abuse. Bryce is one of Kira’s best heroines to date; she is vulnerable and broken, but we get to see her grow stronger and take back her life. It was a privilege to read this novel.

“A Date with the Devil:”  5/5 stars. Emotional, fast-paced, well-written.

Quotes:

“My best friend almost kissed me, and although I pushed him away, I’m pretty sure I wanted it.”

“I have no time to dwell on what just transpired. Tonight is the night. I’m getting the hell out of here.”

“He shrugs. ‘What’s for breakfast?’
I roll my eyes back at him. ‘What do I look like? Your chef? Get your ass off the couch and come see the options for yourself.’”

“One step.

One step was all it took to begin to put my life back on track.”
