Books On Our Radar: Ship It by Britta Lundin
Ship It by Britta Lundin was on my radar a month ago and I have been patiently waiting to share it with you all! This book has it all! Fanfic, shipping, comic-con, glbt content, girls loving girls…yeah you know I am all about this book! The beginnings of the plot sounds a lot like something that happened within a certain famous fandom a few years back…and it probably happens more than we even know about. Sometimes the pedestals we put our heroes on stand too tall so it is hard for those celebs to live up to the fans expectations…but in this case the main character, Claire, gets to travel with the cast to help turn around the negative publicity. I seriously can’t wait to read Ship It when it releases on May 1st! Be sure to add it to your TBR in the meantime!

When sixteen-year-old fangirl Claire gets to go to a local Comic-Con where the cast of her favorite show, Demon Heart, is appearing, she thinks it’s a dream come true. Until the Q&A, that is. Mic in hand, Claire asks the two male stars, Forest and Rico, when they’re going to acknowledge the romantic attraction between their characters–and Forest rudely laughs off the question. Humiliated, Claire storms out of the auditorium. After all, every last kilobyte of her super-popular fanfic revolves around the romance between Rico’s and Forest’s characters. Not to mention: dude-offensive! She can’t believe what a bigoted jerk her hero has turned out to be.
Unfortunately for Demon Heart, when the video of the disastrous Q&A goes viral, the producers have a PR nightmare on their hands. In order to help bolster their image within the LGBTQ+ community-as well as with their fans-they hire Claire to join the cast for the rest of their publicity tour. What ensues is a series of colorful Comic-Con clashes between the fans and the show that lead Forest to question his assumptions about sexuality and help Claire come out of her shell. Together, they learn more than they ever imagined about themselves and what they’re capable of. Also, Claire kind of falls in love. With a girl. Who is awesome.
