Books On Our Radar:
For the Record by Charlotte Huang

So it may be hard to believe, but Shannon and I have some other passions then just books and music is a huge part of our lives, and probably yours too.  For the Record by Charlotte Huang sounds like the perfect book for music lovers! I love music books, and this tag line “If Almost Famous were a YA novel…” sold me instantly!

So just a fun fact about Shannon & I – this week we are traveling cross-country to see BLUR, one of our favorite bands, perform the only 2 tour dates in the USA in more than a decade (yes, they played Coachella in 2013, but you have to buy tickets a year in advance without even knowing the lineup so we missed that chance). We will be seeing Blur live at the Hollywood Bowl (Hollywood, CA) & Madison Square Garden (NYC, NY)! We are so excited it feels like we are teenagers again, except with the means to travel cross country and not miss school.

So if you like music and books that feature music check out For the Record by Charlotte Huang, releasing soon and available for pre-order & be sure to add it to your TBR!

If Almost Famous were a YA novel… a raw, honest debut celebrating music, friendship, romance, and life on the road.

Chelsea thought she knew what being a rock star was like… until she became one. After losing a TV talent show, she slid back into small-town anonymity. But one phone call changed everything

Now she’s the lead singer of the band Melbourne, performing in sold-out clubs every night and living on a bus with three gorgeous and talented guys. The bummer is that the band barely tolerates her. And when teen heartthrob Lucas Rivers take an interest in her, Chelsea is suddenly famous, bringing Melbourne to the next level—not that they’re happy about that. Her feelings for Beckett, Melbourne’s bassist, are making life even more complicated.

Chelsea only has the summer tour to make the band—and their fans—love her. If she doesn’t, she’ll be back in Michigan for senior year, dying a slow death. The paparazzi, the haters, the grueling schedule… Chelsea believed she could handle it. But what if she can’t?
