Feature: Crush on This #3

Crush on This is a new feature that highlights my love for books that don’t get as much recognition as I feel they deserve. I will try my best to hit every genre in order to be as diverse as possible. I’d also love your suggestions, so if you love a book and want similar titles, let me know in the comments!

Crush on This:

This week, I’ve chosen a series that I know for a fact most people haven’t heard of. It’s by a self-published author, Heather Lyons. Heather has a beautifully imagined series called The Collectors’ Society.

In The Collectors’ Society, Lyons has created a world in which some of our favorite characters are brought to life… in the modern world! They work together to protect the stories and essentially keep them alive. But someone is trying to destroy the timelines (i.e. the books and classics). The lead is someone we all know, Alice Lidell. But it also features others that will easily be recognized. I fell in love with her writing and knowledge of literature, but also, the creativity in which she has woven them all together.

Even if you haven’t read The Book Jumper, but were intrigued by the idea of being part of the story, I can assure you The Collectors’ Society is a stunning alternative. One that is better told with far more twists.

*Note: The story is pretty tame, but there are sexual scenarios. I wouldn’t say any are particularly graphic or erotic, though.

From the author of the Fate series and The Deep End of the Sea comes a fantastical romantic adventure that has Alice tumbling down the strangest rabbit hole yet.

After years in Wonderland, Alice has returned to England as an adult, desperate to reclaim sanity and control over her life. An enigmatic gentleman with an intriguing job offer too tempting to resist changes her plans for a calm existence, though. Soon, she’s whisked to New York and initiated into the Collectors’ Society, a secret organization whose members confirm that famous stories are anything but straightforward and that what she knows about the world is only a fraction of the truth.

It’s there she discovers villains are afoot—ones who want to shelve the lives of countless beings. Assigned to work with the mysterious and alluring Finn, Alice and the rest of the Collectors’ Society race against a doomsday clock in order to prevent further destruction . . . but will they make it before all their endings are erased?

*This is the first book in the adult romance/fairy tale Collectors’ Society series.
