Feature: Head to WonderCon 2023
It’s that time again: WonderCon! I make an annual trek to Anaheim to attend SDCC’s sister con because I definitely need another reason to visit Disneyland across the street (jk, I love this con AND its proximity to Disney!).
WonderCon features 900+ exhibitors in a 412,000 square foot Exhibit Hall filled with comics, original art, toys, and merchandise from many popular artists, publishers, and retailers. Attendees can expect exclusive movie and television programming, panels featuring the top comics publishers in the country, anime, autographs, games, the Masquerade, and portfolio review. WonderCon offers the complete convention experience!
This year I am especially excited because I’ve been asked to moderate a bookish panel! Can you believe they just let anyone do that (hi, I am anyone). Many thanks to Mysterious Galaxy for inviting me to moderate!
omg there are 17 people already signed up to attend 🫥Lisi Harrison (The Pack), Rachel Ignotofsky (What’s Inside a Flower), and Suzanne and Max Lang (Grumpy Monkey Who Threw That) discuss all the ways that nonhumans are more fun to write. Moderated by Christy Hayes (Bookcrushin’).
But for real, I love this con because it’s all things nerdy, geeky, and just downright fandom oriented. There’s something for everyone, like panels for TV, movies, games, and more, or the Dr. Horrible Sing-A-Long, or meeting your favorite comic artist! The Anaheim Convention Center is also conveniently located near a bunch of hotels and across the street from Disneyland, which includes tons of eating options as well as a place to rest (I am going to tell you about the Grand Californian Hotel’s fireplace but I need you to know this is a sacred place and you can’t just give it away to anyone – I trust you, readers!).
This year, some of the things I am most excited for include several panels about queer people in various media, signings with authors like Gina Chen, and a panel about the science of the Arrowverse with a newish-to-me author Travis Langley!
So if you’re in the Anaheim area this weekend (3/24-26), let’s hang out! If not, stay tuned for a little recap! Head over to the official website for all the details!
