Cover Crush: Mask of Shadows by Linsey Miller
Mask of Shadows is an upcoming YA fantasy debut by Linsey Miller. When I came across this cover, I immediately stopped scrolling and started devouring this cover art. But once I read the description of the book, I can’t even contain my excitement! This new duology has ‘a compelling gender fluid main character’ HOLY YES!! We have a skilled thief, Sal, who is going to fight to the death for a job as the royal assassin, who is actually looking for revenge against the royals. I’ll take two of these books, thanks! I am so into this description as well as this kick ass cover! What am I looking at? I see knives, I see wings, oh yeah, I see a real beauty that I can’t wait to have on my shelf! Yes, I am one of those cover collectors for sure, but this book has amazing promise with that blurb and the early reviews are starting to come in and are very positive. People are definitely comparing it to 2 very amazing authors and apparently the world building is on point. I really can’t till September 5th for this release! Be sure to add it to your goodreads so you can don’t forget about this one.

Perfect for fantasy fans of Sarah J. Maas and Leigh Bardugo, the first book in this new duology features a compelling gender fluid main character, impressive worldbuilding, and fast-paced action.
Sallot Leon is a thief, and a good one at that. But gender fluid Sal wants nothing more than to escape the drudgery of life as a highway robber and get closer to the upper-class―and the nobles who destroyed their home.
When Sal steals a flyer for an audition to become a member of The Left Hand―the Queen’s personal assassins, named after the rings she wears―Sal jumps at the chance to infiltrate the court and get revenge.
But the audition is a fight to the death filled with clever circus acrobats, lethal apothecaries, and vicious ex-soldiers. A childhood as a common criminal hardly prepared Sal for the trials. And as Sal succeeds in the competition, and wins the heart of Elise, an intriguing scribe at court, they start to dream of a new life and a different future, but one that Sal can have only if they survive.
