We have been waiting a long, long time since the news of The Vampire Academy series was optioned for a movie back in mid-2010 by Preger Entertainment. The studio had announced shortly after that Don Murphy would be producing. He is most well known for the Transformers trilogy. Then fans had to wait a really, really long time for any other news…but finally on Monday the official Facebook page and twitter account (@OfficialVAMovie) announced that they officially have a writer, Dan Waters, who is most known for his dark comedy/teen angst movie Heathers (awesome!).
“Dan has written a brilliant screenplay for VAMPIRE ACADEMY. Smart and
funny, clever and really a great read – it is going to make a terrific
film.” – Don Murphy
Not to be presumptuous, but apparently what I took away from the Don Murphy quote on the Facebook post is that the script has already been written. I am sure it needs some tweaking and all…but this is really good news!
I expect a major studio will soon step in to get behind this potential next huge series! We here at BookCrushin are huge fans of Richelle’s and this series. We will keep you posted as soon as we know more! And oh yeah, begin throwing our hat in the casting ring.
And to get you all brushed up on the world of VA, The Vampire Academy Ultimate Guide will be released this week on December 22nd!
