When her mother’s incessant matchmaking hits an all-time high, Georgie Archibald does what any sensible woman would do: she flees the country.

Seeking refuge in the picturesque seaside village of Vernazza, Italy, Georgie’s only plan is to lie low, gorge herself on gelato, and let the wine and waves wash her troubles away…that is until she wakes up in a bed that belongs to the most romantic-looking man she’s ever seen.

Gianluca.

After going out of his way to rescue her, the former London financier turned mysterious recluse makes it clear that despite acting as her white knight, he has no plans to co-star in her fairytale.

But Georgie isn’t asking for his heart—she’s merely intrigued.

After all, Gianluca isn’t just gorgeous—tall and tan from days spent in the sun—his touch sets her world on fire. With him, Georgie experiences the most intoxicating passion she’s ever known, and it only takes a few steamy nights for her to realize that sometimes running away from trouble is the best way to find it.

Review:

[book rating=4.5/5]
… I needed to put some boundaries between us –
rather large boundaries, it seems, like the Alps and the English Channel.

Have you ever just wanted to try on a new city for size? How about a whole different country? I have had this dream before, and Georgie clearly needed some space too. Georgie has been in the shadow of her two older brothers, one is an Olympic Gold medalist swimmer, the other was to be Duke of their estate.  After family tragedy, scandal, and ultimately the marriage of her brother, Georgie’s mother decided to fill her time trying to get Georgie to marry a proper British man. Georgie being the family jester and would do anything to try and support her mother and keep her happy, had gone along with every set-up and blind date. Finally, Georgie had enough and decided to disappear to another country in hopes to find some hot men all on her own.

Georgie decides that the remote seaside town of Vernazza, Italy is going to be her destination of choice. Georgie is hilarious and a force to be reckoned with…she wants adventure, but she also is lost in her dream world of what her dream man should be like. She can’t seem to shake the first man she met once she arrived in Vernazza. Gianluca, is a brooding yet gorgeous man, that has made himself unavailable to all the girls who desire him after a tragic past has caused him too much pain. But Georgie sees Luca as someone who was willing to love so hard core that means he is capable of loving someone like that again — Challenge Accepted.

Luca despises Georgie’s ideas, but Georgie wants to be business partners too. Luca reluctantly decides to go along, after much persuasion, to reopen up his Nonna’s bed and breakfast. Of course this means spending a lot of time together, fixing the crumbling place up. Georgie talks herself right into them being friends and eventually lovers. I loved tearing down walls metaphor both literally and physically between these two. As they worked on restoring Luca’s family business in the heart of the village, Georgie worked her way into the heart of Luca. He didn’t know he was capable of loving again, and Georgie wasn’t sure this was her future, but she knew she never been more at home than when she was in Vernazza and with Luca.

As per usual with R.S. Grey, her writing has some of the best side characters who make this story unforgettable. This time you can add in the location as another main character. The scenes, the background, the desire to travel, it was all rolled up perfectly into this brilliant romance. I think I want to hike between seaside towns of the Cinque Terre, eat fresh picked strawberries on the beach, and devour all the gelato in Italy. I was whisked away into this setting and I honestly think I have found a new destination on my must visit list!

All in all, this was a hilarious and torturous romance! It was such a slow burn, but the payoff was worth it! I adore the enemies to lovers stories, but what I love more than anything else is romantic comedies, and this was both. This book definitely had that trademark laugh out loud scenes that you have come to expect with R.S. Grey’s works as well as scorching hot romance. A Place in the Sun is the perfect romantic story about finding yourself and taking chances in one of the least expected places.

PS. I now want to eat all the gelato in Italy.

Author Bio: R.S. Greyrsgrey

I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things… everyday.

I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors are Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I’m a comedy geek and love all things “funny”. Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.
