Category: Adult, Contemporary, Mature
Purchase: SerialBox
Meet your new best girlfriends. Michelle is a hard-nosed Science Fiction editor who is used to things going her way; Taneesha is a talented video game programmer who is used to being the odd (wo)man out. Aditi is a fantasy writer on the verge of her big break; Christina is a rebel on the sidelines of Hollywood. And Elli is a fan – of anything and everything that keeps are from “proper adulting.” Together they are Rebel Scum (at least in their shared group chat), and best friends through thick and thin. They might live far apart but through the power of the internet and a shared love of all things geek, they are ready to face the world side by side.
This is the 8th episode in the first season of Geek Actually, a 13-episode serial from Serial Box Publishing. This episode was written by Cathy Yardley.
Review:
[book rating=5/5]Well I wasn’t quite expecting some of these things to happen this week! I was a little shocked. Definitely was waiting on baited breath after last week’s episode, but I wasn’t thinking it would go this direction. I hate that these ladies can’t just beat their oppressors back with a bat!
Oh how much I wanted to cheer Christina on for trying to help Taneesha. However, I knew this wasn’t going to make anything better. But glitter bombs are kind of fun! 😛 Taneesha hopefully can get some standing room now that the douchebag at work understands what happened to her, as long as they don’t fire her, if they do, she better sue them up and down and back again! However, it looks like her tragedy might spur a gorgeous gaming hunk to stand by her side! Christina does need to listen to Taneesha and I hope she does.
I am appalled at the publishing industry and letting such asshole authors walk all over them just for those dollar signs. I know Michelle tried to keep her cool, but when anyone starts off throwing racist and sexist name calling they way that jackass did, I probably would have thrown my coffee at them and quit right then and there. But that is the luxury of a non-realistic life, and for some reason this episode feels too damn real.
Aditi also learns of the backlash of a very successful blog post and now is concerned for the amount of effort her publisher will be putting in to make sure her upcoming book has a prosperous launch. However, she is feeling the anxiety over the possibilities of book tours and events where she needs to be in public promoting herself.
My hopes for tomorrow’s episode, is that we get a lot of this shit show starting to wrap-up, as we get closer and closer to the end of this 13 episode arc. Only 5 episodes left and I need some more HEA’s in store for the awesome ladies of the #REBELSCUM.
Like Taneesha, I would like a super gorgeous gaming hunk. ?
Awwwww. Is it weird I don’t want any of them or their prospects? I just want them all as friends!
