vampAs we reported a few days ago, The Vampire Academy Movie, Blood Sisters, is well under way with the casting, screenwriter, producers and director already on board. Now comes word that powerhouse film studio The Weinstein Company has snatched up a domestic rights deal to the film. This will be the Weinstein’s first foray into the world of young adult franchises. With many Academy Awards nominated films under their belt, having the Weinstein name behind the film is a surefire way to ensure success for the film.

The film will  go into production early this summer and will release on a nationwide level on February 14, 2014, a date that combines both Valentine’s Day and the Presidents Day long weekend.‬‪ ‬‪With each new bit of information on the film, my excitement level catapults. This latest news has me especially excited as the Weinstein’s are responsible for many a successful film, see The Silver Linings Playbook and Django Unchained.

So what do you think of this latest news? Are you getting excited over the idea of a VA movie?
