The warrior has finally met his match.
Nikolas Danshov is the Mohiri’s finest warrior, fearless and lethal with any weapon. For almost two hundred years, he has devoted his life to keeping humans safe from the demons that walk the earth. Revered by his people, he is a legend in his own time, a warrior undefeated in battle, and prepared for anything. Until her.
On a routine job in Maine, a twist of fate brings Nikolas face-to-face with the one person he had never expected to meet – his mate. Sara Grey is unlike anyone he’s ever met. Beautiful and fiery, she ignites his desire, while her innocence and vulnerability awaken a fierce protectiveness in him. Now all he can think of is keeping his mate safe from the dangers that hunt her, even if she fights him at every turn.
You know Sara’s story. Now read it again, through the eyes of her warrior.
** This book is considered Upper YA due to some mature content.
Review:
[book rating=5/5]She drove me crazy, challenging me at every turn.
Warrior was such an enjoyable read! As someone who has already read the entire original trilogy multiple times, it was still a lot of fun to read it all over again from Nikolas’s point of view. I really do love getting into the heads of the other characters and Warrior was no different! After finishing this massive book (it covers most of the events from all 3 books in the series, wrapped up into 1 complete book) I was completely satisfied. I wasn’t left wanting more…ok maybe just a little bit more, but this is still kept pretty PG, all things considered.
For a lot of the Relentless series Nikolas is off doing his warrior work and now we get is an inside look at a lot of the warrior missions. He is also kind of quiet, except when yelling at Sara, which in turn is beautifully explained through his POV. Gaining great insight into just how strong Nikolas’ mating bond is and why he is so protective of Sara that sometimes he comes off much more angry than kind, but it all comes from a place of a dire need to protect her. I mean it has taken over hundreds of years for him to discover his actual mate, and she just happens to be a 17-year-old trouble magnet. Nikolas is vastly more mature than Sara so it takes a lot of physical and mental restraint for him to get on her level, but it is amusing as to how he still can’t figure out how to behave correctly. He is so thrown off by his new bond, that he avoids it mostly, which causes its own issues.
Since Sara was not brought up in his Mohiri world, she really doesn’t know what is going on with all this “mate” business, so really understanding what poor Nikolas is up against is quite entertaining. Plus, Nikolas never thought he would be anything other than a warrior, after all this time how could he possibly have any room in his life for anything else. It was really amazing to get an inside view of him going through his attempts to try and do what was best for Sara, even if it backfired quite a few times. Nothing like a big, strong warrior to get all sappy over a girl, all without letting anyone know! That’s some control…well for as long as he could possibly withstand.
I loved getting to know Nikolas, he keeps a lot inside, and if you want to know just how much you will have to read Warrior to find out! I do not think anyone should read Warrior without reading the entire trilogy first, as it glances over a lot of Sara’s antics that Nikolas isn’t aware of and then when he discovers what she has really be up to it is just a blast to have that reveal from his perspective. This is definitely an addition to the trilogy, we have many new scenes, many of them without Sara, so marking it as book 4 is absolutely correct, it is not a standalone, but it is entirely gratifying and delectable.
Warrior is a brilliant alternate point of view accompaniment to the overall series. I learned so much about Nikolas and about the Mohiri. This wasn’t just a retelling, so many new scenes for us devout fans to absorb and embrace — like we needed any more reasons to love Nikolas! Warrior is a 5-star, must-read companion to the Relentless trilogy!

Karen Lynch grew up in Newfoundland, Canada – a place rich in colorful people and folklore to which she attributes her love of the supernatural and her vivid imagination. She moved to Charlotte, North Carolina years ago and was immediately charmed by the southern people but she says she will always be a newfie.
Though she loves supernatural fiction, she has a soft spot for Charlotte Brontë and Jane Austin. She is a fan of classic rock, country and classical music but her favorite music is the sound of a good thunderstorm or a howling blizzard. Two of her favorite past times are baking artisan breads for her friends and spending quality time with her two German Shepherds.
Haha ya she totally should have gone NA with this 😀
It would have been everything I ever wanted…but I *know* why she didn’t but I am very much looking forward to some more adult outtakes maybe! 😛
