Books in the News: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi Coming to the Small Screen

shatter me

If you’ve been observing an internet fast you may have missed the earth shattering (I went there) news that OUR favorite series, Shatter Me, by Tahereh Mafi, has just been optioned for tv (pause for squeals). Yes that’s right fan girls and boys, as reported by none other than Tahereh herself on Twitter, (whose been hinting at the news for days), Juliette and company will be making their way to the small screen.

The series rights have been sold to ABC Signature Studios, an off-shoot of ABC Television that specializes in producing series to be sold on other cable platforms. My guess is we will see this land on ABC Family (although hoping for a grittier network) but stay tuned for updates. As many of you may recall, movie rights to the film were previously optioned, but ultimately remained as many YA book options do, undeveloped. I for one think TV is a much better fit for this epic series.

So what do you think of this news? I’ve had my casting locked down for awhile, and while my chosen Juliette, Maria Avgeropoulos is appearing on The 100, let’s hope my chosen Warner, Wyatt Nash, is free.

You can hear more about the news here and here and stay tuned to @taherehMafi on Twitter for all the #ShatterMeTV updates!
