Dreamworks has just announced that they have picked up the movie rights to the New York Times best selling book Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. It seems like every time you turn around another YA book is having their film rights acquired but what makes this news so exciting is that David Heyman, who was the producer of the Harry Potter franchise, will be producing these films. That is an excellent sign that this book to movie adaptation will actually see the light of day.  There is no word as to director, screenwriter, or filming date, etc as the deal was just completed.  Shadow and Bone was just released in June 2012 and the second installment Siege and Storm is set to be released in June of 2013.  I am so excited for this adaptation and cannot wait to see the fantastical world inhabited by orphan Alina and the mysterious Darkling on the big screen. It was one of the few books I’ve read this year that I rated 5 hearts!  For a synopses of Shadow and Bone go here.
