Celebrate Independent Bookstore Day 2025
We should not have to tell you, in these times, how important Independent Bookstores are, right? Plus, as a nation we are trying to levy our buying power to those stores & businesses who have the most impact on our communities, and we can wholeheartedly say that is not the evil Zon overlords who dropped a book sale this week ahead of IBD!!! The cruelty and the nerve!
To celebrate Independent Bookstore Day we are going to share some of our favorite indie bookstores to shop from, either local and or online! Supporting Indie Bookstores is a way to give back to your local community. Booksellers carefully cultivate books, and gifts from local artists, with their readers in mind! We have put up a few lists of our favorite indies in the past most recently in 2024 we really gave a nice shout out to our locals & favs – check out those lists here!
Mavey Books – Ardmore, PA – Woman BIPOC owned local to Kelly (well not around the corner but this is the store she will go to this Saturday!) And they will be carrying IBD exclusives and are a part of the Libro.fm Golden Ticket promo!
Bookish Notions – Media, PA – A new indie store opened in the heart of Delco, on State St. in Media, I spend a lot of my time in Media, so I am excited for a new bookstore close to home!
Main Point Books – Wayne, PA – A staple in the indie bookstores of the Main Line, they will be carrying exclusives, Libro.fm golden ticket, and have a line up of authors in-store!
Kick’s Mix – Newark, OH – This is my local LOCAL (as in the rural community I (Christy) live in). It’s also queer owned and hosts the Newark Pride’s Diversity Dialogues, which I am part of!
Columbus has a whole crawl (one of my colleagues is part of a book club who is renting a party bus. HOW DO I JOIN, right?!).
