Feature: ARC August Update #2
We are at the halfway point in the month of August and ARC August is becoming more of a challenge than we expected! You can check out our goal post or update #1 to catch up on our progress of the challenge! We have posted some reviews for the ARCs we have read so far, if so we linked the reviews back to the titles, so check those out for us, would ya, please?! We have also joined into the #BookAdvocate Challenge from NetGalley since the majority of our ARCs come from there! I absolutely love NetGalley, but it also causes us to get behind in our reviewer percentage, because I can’t resist all the amazing titles for review. Speaking of the percentage we have successfully increased by 10% so far in just 2 weeks…I hope we can get to at least 65% by the end of the month, but the goal is always 80% as recommended by NetGalley…one day we will make it there!
Now a little update from all 3 of us:
Sara:
I admit it: I’ve been a slacker with my blog posts. Kelly has been a boss about posting for me because my life is just insane. However, amidst all that insanity, I’ve been able to read four books on my ARC list: Blackmail Boyfriend; Chalk Lines & Lipstick; Miranda’s Choice; and, Lumiere. I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy all of them, too – thank goodness, because I highly dislike writing negative reviews. It’s a good thing I checked my ARC list, because I sort of forgot what I had to read next (don’t tell Kelly or Shannon). I’ve also reread Refuge by Karen Lynch and (Mis)fortune by Melissa Haag, both for read-a-longs (because my life isn’t jam-packed enough). If you haven’t read books by those authors, I’m not sure that we can be friends.
Anyway, I can’t wait to read the next two books on the list, Sisters of Blood and Spirit by Kady Cross, and The Aftermath by Jen Alexander. They’ve been waiting patiently for my attention, unlike my children…
Shannon:
I am starting and stopping a lot of the books on my list. For some reason I can’t get into anything until I started Girl at Midnight-now at 60% in. It’s so good and it finally hooked me, thankfully I know I will finish this one! So on the back-burner is Fractured Suns where I stopped at 60%; will be finishing soon. Legacy of Kings I stopped at 15% — I can tell already that this is going to be a good book, but I’m just not in the mood for a fantasy like this right now. Finally, I just started Playing for Her Heart and should be a good, sexy, fast read like the first book in the series. For some reason I can’t settle into anything and I just wish I could finish a damn book!
Hope to have some reviews coming shortly, you know as soon as I finish one of these!
Kelly:
Wow, I can’t believe it’s the 15th of the month already! I feel like an ARC August Failure! So I haven’t reviewed a single book this month, but I have read Bounce by Noelle August, Devastation by MJ Haag. I also re-read a book not on my goal list, but I read it anyways it was (Mis)Fortune by Melissa Haag for a read-a-long. I am almost finished with Never Always Sometimes by Adi Alsaid – super well written and the characters have such strong voices. I am also just about finished with Sweet Temptation by Wendy Higgins – Kaidan’s POV is practically perfect. So 2 down and 4 to go!
I had grand plans to read all weekend long…but that is already looking like isn’t going to happen. Why can’t I just read all day! Grrr.
Good progress, ladies! I still have only read the one ARC, Caught in Us by Layla Hagen. I have a Twilight buddy in town for the next two weekends and books that I’m trying to finish by new release dates of sequels. I feel exactly like you, Kelly. Why can’t I just read all day? To be fair, I got up at 2 am today and ignored my hunger pains until I was 44% deep into KING by T.M. Frazier. I’m enjoying it tons so far.
