Brooding YA Hero: Becoming a Main Character (Almost) as Awesome as Me by Carrie Ann DiRisio so add it to your TBR or preorder it now!
Of course this playlist is truly a mix of songs that I like, and that inspire me to think about all the Broody’s in books and all the Main Characters who love them! Tell me in the comments of a song that makes you think of an especially brooding YA hero!

Sweet Avenue makes me think of Peeta! Not sure he’s entirely broody but it’s now headcanon.
He’s not the broodiest, but he has a lot of YA hero tropey-ness! (not a word, but it should be!)
This is amazing!!! I love that a Los Campesinos song is on your mixtape for Broody.
OH WOW! I love that you know that band! I always feel like I am few generations behind in music, I have a hard time leaving the 90s/00s britpop/indie scene. *highfive*
Hahah, this is awesome 😀 and totally hipster! My friend used to listen to some of these when we were at school. That was before hipsters even existed 😀
We must be of similar ages! As most of these bands are from my late HS/College years. I have a hard time leaving the 90s/00s britpop/indie scene!
I’m nearly 29, you? The Liverpool scene was all the rage with us indie weirdo kids when I was 16 😀
Ha, for sure! However, I have 10 years on you!
I suppose we were advanced (and really hipstery!) teens 😀 I know that whatever we listened to was NOT the thing that was popular at the time 😀
