It’s Personal: 2023 Reading & Blog Goals

New year, new goals! Dive into our goals below and share yours in the comments! Let’s keep each other accountable!

Kelly’s Reading Goals

I really want to read 100 books this year, but set my goal at 90, because let’s be real these last two years, had me watching more tv, and reading less books. I am planning to track my reading formats better, with the Storygraph app, I am tracking hours read, while goodreads can track my pages.

I must unhaul 50% of my library. No joke, but also no clue if that number is accurate. I can just say that I have most of my bookshelves up and I still have 100s of books with no where to go. I have so many books and some I just need gone and will end up in LFL’s all around me (and good stuff sent to Christy for her new LFL), and some I will probably try to sell.

And speaking of my personal home library, I just want to finish it and I can’t without the step above, so fingers crossed this is the year.

Blog Goals

  • Do some more creative posts! (bring back Friday’s I’m in Love – adult romance reviews since I am reading a lot more of them these days)
  • Review more books!
  • Do a little redesign refresher.
  • Add in storygraph as an alternative to goodreads on the book info/social links
  • Maybe add in our instagram feed and replace twitter.

Christy’s Reading Goals (and a little more)

My bookish goals this year are simple: read 100 books, at least 12 of them I already own. I want to mood read rather than reading what is offered to me or what I think I *should* read. I want to find enjoyment in reading again!

My main goal this year is to DO LESS. I am the overcommitted type who wants to do everything. I want to get better at the things I do rather than do more. So I want to focus on reviewing books and authentically talking about books. Honestly, I hate Instagram. But I know I need a presence there because that’s where the community is. So I am going to focus on posting 2-3x a week rather than always matching a blog post. I am never going to be a huge influencer (I don’t even want that) but I love shouting about quiet books and connecting with my friends.

I said I want to do less but I also want to develop some of my hobbies in a different way. You’ve probably seen that I completed Disney’s Dopey Challenge (48.6 miles over a weekend). That was my one big dream for 2023 – and I completed it 8 days in haha. I want to get better at running (and triathlon) and fix my imbalances. I’m going through advanced training for a fitness program I teach because I want to get better at it.

I also got a Cricut for Christmas so I am in crafting mode. If you know me, you know I am terrible with creative things, especially crafts. But I am committed to learning and doing things like making ears and run costumes!

I am also working to develop a renewed morning routine and protect my personal time from work. This was inspired by MK England’s new routines and is very much a work in progress. I’ve started tracking my habits via a streak app and it includes things like meditating daily, hitting my protein goal, and working out before work.
