Maggie Stiefvater’s The Raven Boys is the latest in a string of YA Novels that have found their movie rights being optioned.  The novel, which won’t be released until September 18, 2012, centers around 16 year old Blue, who comes from a family of psychics, and is told that if she finds her true love and kisses him, he will die. The novel is to be the first in a four-book series, which could potentially position it as the next big young adult franchise, if successful.  Stiefvater is also the author of the New York Times best selling series The Wolves of Mercy Falls, which coincidentally had it’s first book, Shiver optioned by Unique Features back in 2009.  New line, which acquired the rights to The Raven Boys,  is throwing it’s hat into the YA ring after the success had by Summit with The Twilight Saga and Lionsgate with The Hunger Games.  As yet, there is no word on who is attached to the film.  We will be keeping a close eye on any developments.  I for one would love to see any of Maggie’s beautiful books on the big screen. Are you excited by this news?
