Books On Our Radar: Wonder Woman: Warbringer
(DC Icons #1) by Leigh Bardugo
To say I am excited for Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo is probably the most understated statement ever. I AM SO FRAKKING EXCITED! First of all, I am slightly in love with Leigh Bardugo (shhh don’t tell her so she doesn’t file a restraining order against me or so my partner doesn’t find out!). I mean seriously, Leigh has this way with her writing that I just cannot get enough of. The love I have for her characters and their dialogue is hard to even compare to any other author. I’m completely obsessed with the world she has created and how amazingly she can craft stories that encapsulate that same essence no matter how varied a tale. Did I mention I might be slightly obsessed? Just slightly… BUT the best part is that it’s something entirely new from Leigh! Wonder Woman: Warbringer is the story of teenage Diana, a Princess of the Amazons, and just wants to stand out amongst her sisters and finds herself in a bit of trouble when she saves the Warbringer, a human girl who is destined to doom the world. Sounds delightful, right?! AHHH I literally can not wait until August 29th! Seriously, this is everything I ever wanted in life, and luckily for us uber nerds, the DC Icons series will focus on retelling a story from the upbringing of 4 different superheroes from four different YA authors! SQUUEEEESSS for all this epicness that starts this August! Do you understand my elation, now? I hope I have adequately explained my fervor over this!

The highly anticipated coming-of-age story for the world’s greatest super hero: WONDER WOMAN by the # 1 New York Times bestselling author LEIGH BARDUGO.
She will become one of the world’s greatest heroes: WONDER WOMAN. But first she is Diana, Princess of the Amazons. And her fight is just beginning. . . .
Diana longs to prove herself to her legendary warrior sisters. But when the opportunity finally comes, she throws away her chance at glory and breaks Amazon law—risking exile—to save a mere mortal. Even worse, Alia Keralis is no ordinary girl and with this single brave act, Diana may have doomed the world.
Alia just wanted to escape her overprotective brother with a semester at sea. She doesn’t know she is being hunted. When a bomb detonates aboard her ship, Alia is rescued by a mysterious girl of extraordinary strength and forced to confront a horrible truth: Alia is a Warbringer—a direct descendant of the infamous Helen of Troy, fated to bring about an age of bloodshed and misery.
Together, Diana and Alia will face an army of enemies—mortal and divine—determined to either destroy or possess the Warbringer. If they have any hope of saving both their worlds, they will have to stand side by side against the tide of war.
