2015 Blog Goals, Resolutions & a Giveaway!

Kelly’s Bookish Goals & Resolutions

I had grand ideas for 2014 and this blog…however things didn’t go as planned. I read the least amount of books in 2014, than I have in the past 4 years. So this year I thought I would write my resolutions down and try to hold ourselves accountable! Oh & sorry this post is like in the middle of January instead of on New Year but sometimes you forget a posts sitting in drafts! Mainly because the damn formatting won’t work well once I add a second reading challenge widget. So sorry that the formatting is wonky! But SIGNED BOOK GIVEAWAY!

•  Goodreads Reading Challenge – 85 books – My largest challenge number yet, and I already have doubts but I HAVE TO READ MORE. I get so disappointed when I don’t get to read all the books I wanted to read.

• PopSugar Reading Challenge – I love these 50 ideas, I know I won’t get to half of them unless I use the same book to check off multiple categories but I still think this would be a fun motivator.  There are lots of Reading Challenges out there to help motivate your reading – I also found this cool one by MordernMrsDarcy!

2015-Reading-Challenge

• Read books I already own & stop buying so many that sit on the Kindle or bookshelf.

• Review more books even if they are short reviews. Get off social media and read more – gotta hustle to met my goals. Clean up my Goodreads shelves & my “real” bookshelves.

• Finish a few Series that I left behind for no real reason.

• Create more original content to keep all you readers happy!

Shannon’s Bookish Goals & Resolutions

2014 was a tough year for me personally. I lost my Dad then my dog all within 2 months. Because of this I spent a lot of time grieving and neglecting the things that make me happy. In 2015, I vow to spend time getting back to doing things that I really love, starting with reading! Most of my resolutions mirror Kelly’s so there is a lot of overlap but it’s all good things. I hope we continue to encourage each other and all of you to keep turning those pages and contributing to this amazing community of bloggers, readers and authors.

•  Goodreads Reading Challenge – 60 books – My challenge is not as lofty as Kelly’s but since I only read 45 books last year, I think it is a noble challenge! I hope to surpass it!

•  Make a point to read the books I want to read, I’d like to devote as much time to blog related books as to those books that are on my to read list.

•  Finish up reading the numerous hard cover books I have on my shelves. Since I made the switch to e-books I have neglected to finish up the hard covers I own. I want to read at least 5 of the hard cover books on my shelf.

•  Review more books! (No brainer here)

•  Try to expand my horizons and read as many new authors as possible.

•  Clean up my Goodreads shelves (I’ve actually already started this and deleted over 100 books off my shelves, many were a what was I thinking type situation, I think it’s good to do this at the beginning of the year, everyone’s tastes change).

•  Go back and finish numerous series I’ve started but haven’t finished (The Mortal Instruments, Mara Dyer, and Under the Never Sky to name a few). I made a list last year that had about 12 series on it, I started this and managed to finish 3 on that list, so my big plan is to wrap up at least half of that list).

•  Go back and get some of our memes going again such as Character Crush, Mixtape, and Author Spotlight.

  1. UGH – now it shows only Shannon’s widget however in the code it is my widget! WTF is going on! This post drove me to drink and maybe I should have trashed it altogether! *edit – I bailed on the widget & just went with an image & link. But the cool part was it led me to finding another cool reading challenge that I edited the post with! *cheers*

  2. I have lofty goals, but currently, I’m reading about 3 or 4 books a week. I’ll be super happy if I get 75 books in this year and do about as many reviews. That’s my goal anyways. 😀 We’ll see if I have bit off more than I can chew. & I follow by email!

  3. Irma Jurejevčič

Well mine is simple: to read even more books than I did last year and to write everysingle review of them in GD and Amazon. Ans so far I’m a good girl 🙂
I follow you trough mail and on Bloglovin!

I am international but I am willing to pay for shipping.

    • Thanks for being good to authors & reviewing! And thanks so much for following us, Irma! Also, I will edit the post to include INTL with the option to pay for shipping.

  4. Gabrielle Compolongo

My bookish resolution is to read all of my books I had listed TBR for each month this year! Non bookish resolution is to be happier each day! I follow by email and bloglovin!!

  5. Samantha Wallace

My bookish resolutions is to read 50 books this year. I have also followed by email and Bloglovin!! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!! 🙂

  6. I’m actually setting my goal higher than originally planned, as I’d like to review one book a week, with the exception of the holiday weeks, so 50 books. And I don’t plan on blogging every book I read so could easily attempt twice this many, just not leaving in depth reviews, more of a blurb and star rating.

  7. Livia

Great goals, ladies! Good luck achieving them all, you can do it!!!

I can definitely say that read MORE is at the top of my 2015 book goals. I’ve never talked to more romance book lovers than I did in 2014 so that was exciting. I bought an e-reader and started slowing getting into the online book community via read-alongs and joining book events and online book groups. It’s been wonderful but crazy distracting, too.

I’m finding that buddy reads help me stay more focused so I’m hoping to continue to do more of those. I definitely want to get to all the series that are finished this year, particularly paranormal ones. And I want to write my little reviews FASTER. They take me way too long to do.

  8. Livia

And I’m already following via Bloglovin’ and email I believe. I just resent my email to be sure. Thanks for the giveaway chance! JLA is my top favorite author ’cause she rocks all the romance sub genres that I enjoy. =)

  9. Michelle S.

I’m going to try to read more of the older books on my tbr list before starting some new. I’d also like to branch out and read some that are a little different than the ones I normally read.

  10. Kristen K.

I’m also trying the popsugar challenge. My GR goal is 90 books (ahhhhhh!!!). I do have SO MANY books that I already own that I want to read…I need to reduce my one-clicking and start reading them!

  11. lea

  12. Clare Flack

Last year i read 268 books so this year i want the same if not a few more, I try and read 2 a week and hoping that works out lol but life can get crazy. I been lucky and a few books i read were ARCs hoping to have that again this year as they were so unexpected but so worth the extra time reading. Following on Bloglovin and email, Thank you for the chance.

  13. My goal is to read a lot more books this year than what I did last year. It’s finding the time between work and family but I will do it. Thanks for the chance.

  14. Kelly Fallon Sloane

  15. Alexandra A

I usually don`t make resolutions, but regarding to books I made myslef promise I`ll be always honest and forthcoming in book reviews, I`ll leave a review for every book I read on the purchase site. I know how reviews can help authors. 🙂

Also, I got an idea from a book – on a piece of paper I`ll write something good that happened each day and put it in a jar. And on days, when I`m struggling, I`ll open that jar and read my good memories/moments. 🙂

Thank you for the chance. I follow you via email and Bloglovin 🙂 <3

  16. Charity Pierce

My goal for 2015 would be for me to expand my reading. I read all types of genres but I really don’t go reading outside certain authors. My goal is to read more unknown authors. So far it’s been a success! 🙂

  17. Megan Rigdon

I made a resolution to clear out my “new” folder on my kindle as well as my stack of unread paperback books. I can still add new ones but I want to make sure I finsh allnof the unread books I own by the end of the year.

  18. Sara

    My goals?

    1. Stick with my “Stephen Amell’ diet.
    2. Be more engaged with my kids and not lost in my head.
    3. Read 100 books. I have no idea if this is feasible, but why not try?
    4. Get better sleep and stop staying up so late!
    5. Write 50 reviews.

  19. Rhonda Campbell

  22. Karen Dailey

I have no book reading goals this year. We just sold our house and moved out completely today (1/20). We’re going to start building our home…so my goal is to stay sane by reading every spare minute I have until time to move in to our new home!

  23. Diana Doan

Those are some awesome goals! My goals are to read more books (no specific number, just whenever I can sneak away and get a few pages in) and to be a more positive person. 🙂
