Author Spotlight & Giveaway:

J. Sterling – The Perfect Game Series

BookCrushin is extremely honored to have been chosen to participate in a 13 day author spotlight & giveaway! 13 bloggers were chosen to participate in a blogger – author speed dating event on Saturday, May 3rd at the Washington, DC Author Signing Event hosted by Lalone Marketing, and sponsored by SMI Book Club. I got about 4 minutes with each of the 13 authors and asked the same 3 questions to help give everyone a fun insight about each author in attendance! I had so much fun getting to know each author and collecting signatures and swag! Be sure to check out the event-wide giveaway – scroll all the way to the bottom to find out the schedule and try to check back every day until May 19th! Also, there were some blog specific giveaways so check out the previous posts (or click here). Be sure to show the authors love; add to your goodreads, purchase books & enter the giveaways!

Jenn “J.” Sterling – 3 Questions

Jenn Sterling was so fun and really enjoying herself. I love that in a person, or an author, she may take herself seriously, but honestly she’s all about having a good time in whatever situation she is in! I just love an outgoing personality like that & Jenn is the walking billboard for fun! If you have a chance to meet her, you will not be disappointed! We were joking around so much that we kinda ran out of time for our interview, but hey you don’t care because you read like 5 of these already right?!

Jenn was the only author out of the 13 that told me she didn’t have a book crush, no book boyfriend, nothing. So it took me a minute to recover from shock, but then I asked her why? Which revealed the truth – she loves way too many to ever be able to pick just one or two, so instead she just doesn’t chose. She loves most of the boys from the books while she’s reading. I get you Jenn, I tend to fall for almost all the fictional characters I read about, if not, then there must be something wrong with the book, right? 😛

Lick (Stage Dive #1) & Play (Stage Dive #2) by Kylie Scott are the books/series Jenn wishes she wrote. She loves this series and thinks they are so much fun and just loves the rock stars! I know I have a weakness for musicians, successful or not…it’s just something about a musically talented person…swoon.

When I asked Jenn how much of her real life goes into her stories, without hesitation she replied with an enthusiastic ‘a lot!’  The Perfect Game is basically written from her college experiences. She recently wrote a blog post (don’t click if you want to avoid spoilers) about an incident in The Perfect Game, that the readers just seem to be confused about, but it happened to her, so she included in the story. She enjoys writing from what she knows and thinks the reader will connect to a more realistic story than something completely unbelievable. I agree, it does seem like some books are trying so hard to be a fairy tale that they end up being impossible to relate to. Sometimes the cold, hard truth can be sweet, sexy and fun!

Author Bio: J. SterlingJ Sterling

I got fired from my last job.

It’s true.

I know you’re sitting there thinking, “Jenn, how could anyone in their right mind fire someone as amazing and awesome as you are???” And i’d love to give you a good reason, but the truth is… being This! Awesome! is clearly very scary to other less awesome people. 🙂

So I said screw them and started writing my first book. And you know what I realized? Writing books that mean something to me is a million times better than working my ass off for someone who doesn’t really care about anything other than the bottom line.

My soul feels more satisfied.
My heart, more full.

So thank you for reading, loving and recommending the stories I write.
I think you’re awesome- and not only am I not scared of other awesome people, I want them on my team!
