“This should scare me to hell and beyond, but for some reason it doesn’t.”
I absolutely, hands down, loved Shameless. I experienced a plethora of emotions; I cried, I laughed, I swooned, and I loved every minute! I was so not prepared for all the feelings I had. I literally cried in public…big, fat tears, streaming down my face. Usually, I would try to keep something like that at home, but like I said, I wasn’t prepared! But the feelings were good, it felt sad but right; like I needed to experience all of these feelings in order to fall for the most vibrant couple I’ve read in a while.
Brady is all bad boy exterior with a sweet, sexy inside, which completely compliments Katherine’s girl next door look and her hard working attitude and wit. These two hit it off immediately, and they try to create a working friendship while handling the family affairs, keeping the farm running, all the while struggling to keeping their hands off each other. Then throw baby Izzy into the mix and you have some of the sweetest and hottest moments between Brady & Kat. I really thought their experiences felt real. They were leaning on each other for strength through this traumatic time, but also to learn just what makes one happy and fulfilled in life and not just what is expected of oneself.
I loved reading this in dual POV, getting into the heads of both Kat and Brady was everything I didn’t know I was missing in a lot of contemporary. It also makes you want to scream at the two of them, since they were basically one the same page but staying away from each other for practically the exact same reasons which can be frustrating for the reader, but it felt realistic and completely understandable with the situations they were dealing with.
Funny, how for once I don’t feel shameless for devouring this book! I loved the story and the progression of their relationship. The sexual tension was off the charts and the payoff was some of the hottest scenes I have ever read! This book was more than just smexy, even though–whoa nelly was there sex–but there were also lessons learned and ultimately it is a story about finding love when you least expect it and discovering the true meaning of happiness. Brady, Kat & Izzy have my heart and it will be a while before someone usurps that spot.
Lex Martin has another hit! The Dearest series was phenomenal, and now Shameless heats up the pages. I highly recommend Shameless to all those who love a sexy, well-crafted story that makes you earn that HEA!
